Groundskeeper 2 is a single screen action game from Orange Pixel. The objective is to acquire the necessary number of ‘bit and bobs’ to activate a portal located in the center of the screen. Once the portal is active you can use to move onto another area. The mechanics and plot are fairly simple. The same could be said of the controls. Controllers are supported on the PC but using the arrow keys, space(to jump) and X to fire worked well for me.
The game is simple but challenging. It may seem as though you are looking at the same levels and shooting the same enemies. However if you keep acquiring more ‘bits and bobs’ from the enemies you dispatch the game provides an assortment of baddies in varied locales.
Groundskeeper 2 is fun and fast action but the mechanics won’t change much. I found the cut scenes and voice overs to be quite enjoyable but once you feel like you have reached a ceiling you probably won’t feel compelled to return. If you do, at least you won’t have to spend too much time relearning the game.
